Takeda’s summer internship program blends real world experience with an extensive overview of the pharmaceutical industry. Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance as you gain professional hands-on experience.
The summer internship program is 12 weeks in length and offers a unique perspective into a world-class pharmaceutical company. Compensation is competitive, and financed temporary housing is available to those who qualify. Our internship program also provides you the opportunity to network with people at Takeda through various planned events and activities.
Working closely with his/her supervisor, the intern will be instructed in synthetic organic chemistry techniques. The intern will learn medicinal chemistry concepts and apply them to the design and
synthesis of biologically relevant molecules.
-Synthesis, purification and characterization compounds using standard laboratory techniques
-Research of synthetic methods within the scientific literature and applying this information to chemical synthesis
-Maintenance of an accurate laboratory notebook
-Collaboration with chemists/biologists on a project team
-Preparation and delivery of oral presentations to the project team
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Applicants must be enrolled in a U.S. accredited university for the semester before and immediately following the internship.
Have completed 2 years toward a BS/BA in a discipline related to Chemistry
Work experience in a chemistry laboratory is preferred
Good oral and written communication skills
May work on the computer for several hours at a time.
