Job Description:

MSK Molecular Imaging Summer Program (MISP) 2017
Molecular Imaging (MI) is one of the most rapidly advancing specialties in medicine and MSK has established a vibrant and state-of-the-art laboratory-based translational MI research program, in addition to a world-class clinical research and care operation.
The Center for Molecular Imaging & Nanotechnology and the MSK Department of Radiology are now offering 8-week internships in the field of MI for undergraduate students interested in cancer imaging and related biomedical sciences. MISP is designed to offer students hands-on research experience in cutting-edge laboratories and to interact with research and clinical faculty and trainees

Laboratory Placement
Students will have a chance to take part in independent research projects under the direct mentorship and guidance of a CMINT or Radiology principal investigator (PI). A MISP internship will be tailored to the individual intern and could situated at the intersection of various disciplines — cancer biology, medicine, chemistry, physics, radiochemistry, pharmacology and engineering.

Once matched to a PI the intern will be mentored by a senior member from the PIs lab, such as a resident, fellow, postdoctoral fellow, graduate student, or research technician. At the end of the summer, the students will be expected to present their research project. Possible PIs are listed in the following links:

The program will run from June 19 – August 18, 2017. Students will be paid at an hourly rate for 8 weeks of residence based on the number of years of college experience.

Extracurricular events, tours, training, and luncheons
The students will also have the opportunity to explore outside of the laboratory by participating in a variety of events. These extracurricular activities contribute an additional facet to the internship and allow them to become fully immersed in the world of translational medicine and research. The events are hosted by programs throughout Memorial Sloan Kettering.

Who is Eligible?
The MISP program is designed for undergraduate scientists who are intelligent, self-motivated, and passionate about science and careers in molecular imaging, nanotechnology and radiology. Applicants should have a minimum GPA of 3.0, have completed college-level general biology and/or introductory chemistry, have taken some advanced science courses, and have preferably research experience.
Students must make an 8-week commitment to the program. MSK does not provide housing to MISP participants. A list of housing resources will be provided to accepted students. All housing and transportation expenses are the participant’s responsibility.
