Job Description

We are looking for eight highly motivated students with an interest in research at the interface of engineering, biology, mathematics, and chemistry to participate in the 2019 summer research program for undergraduates.

About This Program

This is a ten-week program of mentored, research-intensive activities in the field of synthetic biology including:

  • One week of “bootcamp” to learn the key synthetic biology techniques and to jump-start your research experience
  • Nine weeks of hands-on research at the intersection of biology, engineering, chemistry, mathematics, and physics in a Northwestern University laboratory under the guidance of one or more of the program’s faculty mentors
  • Workshops, seminars, and hands-on activities to strengthen related skillsets including communication, design, ethics, teamwork, and entrepreneurship

The program will take place from June 17 – August 30, 2019.

Participants must be available for 9 of the 11 weeks of the program.
