University of Pennsylvania, Laboratory for Research on the Structure of Matter – Posted by acsgetexperience Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States

Job Description

The Laboratory for Research on the Structure of Matter (LRSM) hosts REU programs in which students spend 10 weeks working on individual research projects with our associated faculty. The LRSM will offer up to 20 Summer Research Fellowships to undergraduates from U.S. colleges and universities who are majoring in science or engineering. Each will work under the supervision of a faculty member on a current materials research project in chemistry, physics, biochemistry, biophysics, materials science or engineering. Summer

Fellowships will normally be for a ten-week period, from May 26 – July 31, 2020, and will carry a stipend of $5000-$6000 (those with school schedules that interfere should still apply and note their situation in the comments section). Fellows should have completed their junior year by the beginning of the fellowship period, although consideration will be given to exceptionally well-qualified sophomores (note that seniors graduating before the program are not eligible to apply). Students requiring accommodation will be housed in university dormitories at reduced rates.
